Center for Healthy Communities

Through education, research, and advocacy, the Center for Healthy Communities will engage in collaborative research and community outreach. Programs of undergraduate and graduate study will yield future health and physical activity practitioners and researchers, provide a trained workforce to support active living and community health, and expand the research scope of the Center.

Grant-supported research activities will provide evidence-based strategies and support for policy and environmental changes that stimulate individual and community change towards health promoting behaviors, active living, and successful aging.

Established and developing partnerships with regional agencies and groups will serve to sustain research and advocacy efforts toward all forms of health-promoting behaviors, policies, and environments.

The mission of the Center for Healthy Communities is to enhance health and wellness of residents and communities in the rural North Country and Lakes Region of New Hampshire through interdisciplinary education, translational research, academic-community partnerships, and health behavior advocacy.
