Elysia Michaelsen ’10
Elysia Holland Michaelsen graduated from PSU in 2010 with a BFA in 2D Studio Art, majoring in painting. After graduation, she worked at an arts non-profit in Minnesota teaching serial visual arts classes, completing an administrative internship, and providing meaningful arts experiences to underserved populations through a grant-funded teaching-artist-in-residence program. She was accepted in the MFA in Painting program at Arizona State University, for which she received a generous scholarship, teaching position, in recognition of the high quality of her work and her teaching experience. Elysia also was a research assistant in the ASU School of Art’s foundations program; worked in a contemporary art gallery supporting artists’ work and connecting them with collectors and the community; and created exhibition programming at schools within the university. After earning her MFA in May 2014, she was awarded a fully funded three-month residency at Anderson Ranch Arts Center in Snowmass Village, Colorado.
Elysia currently lives in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where she has a studio, teaches, and works with a contemporary art space.
