Employment Information

School Counseling:

In 2015 there were 14 graduates of Plymouth State University’s School Counseling master’s degree program. School counseling students take the Counselor Professional Competency Exam (CPCE). All students successfully passed the exam on the first attempt. Over the past several years, approximately 68% of initially enrolled students completed the program. Among all program graduates (including those not actively seeking employment), the 10 year job placement rate (2006-2015) is 85%; the three year placement rate (2013-2015) is 85%. For the current academic year, approximately 43 students are enrolled in the program. About half are full time and half are part-time. Course schedules accommodate both groups of students equally well.

Mental Health Counseling:

Last year there were 7 graduates of the Plymouth State University’s clinical mental health counseling master’s degree program. No data exists regarding pass rates on licensing exams for this group as they are eligible for licensure only after accumulating 3000 hours of post master’s experience and 100 hours of face-to-face supervision—which takes at least two years. To the best of our knowledge, 100% of our graduates who have taken the state licensing exam have passed it. Clinical Mental Health Counseling students take the Counselor Professional Competency Exam (CPCE). All students successfully passed the exam on the first attempt. Among all program graduates, the three year placement rate (2013-2015) is 85%. Two graduates during that time entered directly into doctoral study. For the current academic year, approximately 45 students are enrolled in the program. About half are full time and half are part-time. Course schedules accommodate both groups of students equally well

 School Psychology

In 2014, there were 7 graduates of Plymouth State University’s School Psychology master’s and CAGS degree programs. Five of the seven that sought employment were hired. Two of the seven chose not to seek employment at the time of graduation.  The 3 year placement rate is 100% for those seeking employment. For the current academic year, 38 students are enrolled in the program. About half are full time and half are part-time. Course schedules accommodate both groups of students equally well.
