In November 2017, Jason Cordeira, Assistant Professor of Meteorology and Affiliate Faculty at the Center for the Environment, was awarded the California Department of Water Resources (DWR) Climate Science Service Award. The award was presented to Jason at the Winter Outlook Workshop at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography in La Jolla, CA. Jason is an atmospheric scientist who specializes in multi-scale atmospheric characteristics of extreme weather events.
The purpose of the award is to recognize ongoing assistance provided by researchers who have been working closely with DWR on climate science projects. Jason was noted for developing an analytical tool for characterizing the forecasted probability of atmospheric river storms (a main source of California’s extreme precipitation) making landfall on the West Coast.
Congratulations Jason!
