Community Education

 Community Education at Plymouth State University aims to provide engaging enrichment programming that promotes social, intellectual and physical well being.

The mission of Community Education is to encourage lifelong learning, provide access to an array of non-credit courses and workshops on campus, and provide enrichment opportunities within the community. Community Education Courses cover broad and varied themes touching on Art, Culture, Health, Leadership, Science, Stewardship and Technology to help participants:

  • Understand the world in a new way.
  • Discover something new about yourself.
  • Develop a new talent or interest.
  • Whet your intellectual appetite.
  • Incorporate education into real-world experience.

Water-based Printmaking and Painting

 Reiki I

Dates:  Saturday February 17, 2018

Times: 9:00-4:00 pm

Location: Waterville Valley Town Center PSU Suite

Cost: $150.00(Includes 6-hour course, manual, course materials, hands-on instruction, First Degree Reiki Certification, Reiki Certificate, and ongoing, post-class guidance)

Instructor: Debra EnglandBSN, RN, CHC, INHC, RMT – Usui and Karuna Reiki Master Teacher

This interactive course will include a brief overview of the history of Reiki and the current science behind it, hands-on instruction in how to use Reiki for Physical, Mental, Emotional, and Spiritual health of self and others, and a summary of energy principles related to wellness.  Students will earn First Degree Reiki Certification through an engaging combination of discussion, activities, and supervised skills demonstration.  Please wear comfortable, unrestrictive clothing and bring a bag lunch, along with an open mind.

Prerequisites: An open mind and desire to learn. No prior experience necessary!  This course is appropriate for ages 16 and above.

Deb is a Registered Nurse, Certified Health and Integrative Nutrition Coach, and Certified Reiki Master Teacher in Usui and Karuna disciplines with a decade of experience as a practitioner, coach, teacher, and healer.

Zentangle Meditative Drawing

Dates: Dates: Friday January 19, 2018

Times: 1-4PM

Location: Waterville Valley Town Center PSU Suite

Cost:  $60 per person or $100/couple (includes materials)

Instructor: Susan Carr CZT [Certified Zentangle Teacher]

Description: Participants will engage in a relaxed setting to learn the Zentangle method. The process is a simple pathway to relaxation, focus and calming a busy mind. The Zentangle method is an easy to learn, fun and relaxing way to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns. No artistic skill is needed to experience satisfying results. This meditative art form can be easily integrated into your daily life.
