The Department of Criminal Justice serves students interested in careers in the criminal justice field, as well as in continuing their education at the graduate level. The department also provides service and research support to criminal justice agencies in the North Country and Lakes Region of New Hampshire.
As a criminal justice major, you will receive an interdisciplinary liberal arts education that will allow you to develop skills in problem solving, communication and writing, computing, and a foreign language. You will have opportunities to participate in internships and to engage in independent research projects with professors, who are leaders and professionals in the field. Perhaps most importantly, you will have the chance to develop a greater sense of self, a tolerance toward others, and the ability to work in diverse cultures.
In addition to founding their own criminal justice student organization, many of our students have become members of the criminal justice honor society, Alpha Phi Sigma. Our honor society members created a book support award to benefit criminal justice students in need of financial support.
Our department is committed to supporting diversity and to providing an inclusive learning environment for all students, and we are proud to be among the first departments on campus to offer a fully online four-year degree program.
The Criminal Justice program offers you:
- a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice,
- courses in forensic science, criminology, ethics and law, research methods, corrections and criminal justice technology,
