Mentor Teachers
Responsibilities
The following list of coaching teacher responsibilities should be a guide for the internship

Prior to Midterm (Site 1 evaluation for Music, Art, PE, PE/HE):

Access Evaluation in Taskstream
Schedule an introductory meeting with the intern. Establish and inform all stakeholders of weekly planning time.
Collaborate with the program faculty/university supervisor on the implementation of seminar assignments.
Assist intern in planning for and completing the Long Range Plan (specific program areas – Early Childhood, Elementary, Special Education, Middle Level and Secondary- Review the internship syllabus for more information)
Complete observations with a pre- and post-conference for each. Provide oral and written feedback to the intern.
Collaborate with the co-evaluator/university supervisor to complete the mid-semester internship evaluation.
Be present in a supportive and collaborative role for the Mid-semester evaluation conference between the university supervisor and the intern (if applicable).
Submit Midterm Evaluations in Taskstream

Between Midterm and Final Evaluation (Site 2 evaluation for Music, Art, PE, PE/HE):

Complete formative observations with a pre- and post-conference for each. Provide oral and written feedback to the intern using the evidence record form. Focus observations based on goals documented on observation records.
Collaborate with the university supervisor/co-evaluator to complete the Final Formal Evaluation Report.
Be present in a supportive and collaborative role for final evaluation conference between the university supervisor and intern (if applicable).
Submit Final Evaluation in Taskstream

Upon completion:

Mentoring is critical to teacher development. Effectiveness is measured through surveys completed by interns and university supervisors at the end of each semester as well as feedback on mentoring skills and responsibilities.
Data (surveys, observations, feedback) collected is reviewed by the Holmes Center and used for program improvement, mentor selection and continuation, and appropriate matching of mentors and interns.

Submitting Evaluations
All evaluations are submitted in Taskstream. A welcome email to Taskstream is sent to your school email at the beginning of the internship. Here is a help guide for using Taskstream.

Road To Teacher Certification Requirements
Decision Points 1 and 2 must be completed by March 1st, 2021. Praxis Core or the SAT waiver approval must be on file with the Holmes Center. Praxis II scores are required for certain Graduate Programs.  Please refer to the Road to Certification for more information and check your Taskstream account.
Internship in Teaching Application
Fall 2021 internship application is closed. 
Match Night
Match Night may take place in March. Please prepare a resume and lesson plan to share with potential mentor teachers and principals.  An agenda and list of attending schools will be posted by January 2021.
Orientation 2
Orientation 2 is required for all Fall 2021 interns. We’ll review the handbook, policies/procedures for the internship along with the NH Code of Conduct and Ethics.  Dates: April 28, 2021 from 2:00-3:00pm or April 29, 2021 from 5:00-6:00pm.

The signed confirmation sheet is due by May 30th, 2021. Students may not register for the internship until this form is submitted to the Holmes Center. This is a fillable form. The mentor teacher and principal must complete their section and sign.
Background Check
Please contact the SAU office to complete the background check requirements for the internship. New Hampshire state law requires the SAU to have the background check results in their office before the internship begins.

This 3-hour session is an opportunity to meet with principals and superintendents to discuss the hiring process. Educational Leaders will share best practices for excelling during the interview.  Professional Dress is required. Date: Friday, November 5: 9:30am- 12. Location:TBD
Orientation 4: Internship Wrap Up and Licensure Overview
At the end of the internship, the Holmes Center along with the NHDOE will review the Licensure process and discuss next steps after graduation.  Program completers are asked to complete a survey and provide qualitative feedback on the Internship Experience. Please review the NH Licensure requirements page for more information.  Date: Friday, December 10: 9:30- 12:30.  Location: TBD

The New Hampshire State Board of Education on Nov. 8, 2018, approved the Educator Code of Conduct, following the approval of an educator Code of Ethics in June 2018. This combined set of rules and procedures is not in response to any one circumstance or incident, but are designed to build on the high standards of the state’s educators, elevate the education profession, and provide guidance to educators.
