Denise Normandin has been in the health and wellness field for over 20 years in a variety of settings from program management to public health. She is a member of Plymouth State University’s Adjunct Faculty and the Project Director for Healthy PSU, a nationally recognized, research-based organizational health and wellness initiative. In 2017, Denise was recognized by the Wellness Council of America (WELCOA) as one of the Top 10 Health Promotion Professionals in the country. Denise also serves as an expert contributor to the WELCOA Life On the Move educational curriculum.
Denise received her Master of Arts degree from Plymouth State University in Personal and Organizational Wellness with a concentration in Personal Approaches to Transformation and Healing. She earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Nutrition and Dietetics from Colorado State University. Prior to transferring to Colorado State, Denise completed an Associate in Arts degree at Keene State College where she was a member of the Keene State Owls Women’s field hockey team.
She is a Registered Dietitian through the Commission on Dietetics Registration (CDR) and a Licensed Dietitian through the State of New Hampshire. Denise has achieved Certificates of Training in several areas; Weight Management for Adults and Child/Adolescents from the CDR, ServSafe™ Food Safety Manager from the National Restaurant Association and Women’s Game-Level I and Level II U.S. Lacrosse Coaching Education Program and Double-Goal Coach® through the Positive Coaching Alliance.
Denise is an active member with the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics (AND) and the American College of Lifestyle Medicine (ACLM). She serves as the Co-Chair of the ACLM Registered Dietitian Working Group and is a member of the ACLM writing committee working on a dietary position paper. Denise also serves on the American Heart Association NH Board of Directors and is a member of the Community Action Committee. She has a passion for helping individual’s live healthier lives through lifestyle approaches that contribute to total well-being. This is demonstrated by her daily commitment to her own personal wellness and by inspiring and motivating others to embrace healthy living practices.
Denise gained her valuable clinical nutrition experience from LRGHealthcare, Laconia, New Hampshire and Huggins Hospital, Wolfeboro, New Hampshire. While at Huggins Hospital, she managed outpatient nutrition services. Denise also served as the Program Manager for Quality Improvement Initiatives for the American Heart Association (AHA), Northeast Affiliate where she successfully managed the Get With The Guidelines™ New England pilot project creating in-hospital continuous quality system improvements for Coronary Artery Disease which expanded to a National program.
She resides in the Lakes Region with her husband and four children where she enjoys healthy cooking, gardening, reading, walking, hiking, skiing, coaching, yoga and most of all…watching her kids play sports!
