Undergraduate and Graduate Athletic Training Program History
1981-82: Athletic Training becomes an option for Physical Education majors
1993-94: Athletic Training Education Program Director is appointed
1996-97: Athletic Training program receives initial accreditation through the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP)
1997-98: Athletic Training becomes a major – BS in Athletic Training
1999-00: MEd in Athletic Training (Entry-level) graduate program in Athletic Training is created
2001-02: Undergraduate Athletic Training Education Program is granted continued CAAHEP Accreditation
Entry-level graduate Athletic Training Education Program is granted initial CAAHEP Accreditation
MEd in Athletic Training (Higher Education option) is offered
2003-04: Director of Graduate Athletic Training Education position is hired, to be shared with Graduate Studies (50%) and the Department of Health, Physical Education and Recreation (50%)
2004-05: Department of Health, Physical Education and Recreation becomes the Department of Health & Human Performance.
MEd in Athletic Training (Sports Medicine option) is offered
2006-07: Both undergraduate and graduate Athletic Training Education Programs are granted continued accreditation through the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE)
2008-09: MEd in Athletic Training for the Entry-level program and Sports Medicine option is changed to an MS in Athletic Training
2011-12: MEd in Athletic Training for the Higher Education option is changed to an MS in Athletic Training
