Writing Camps

About Us: Our Day & Residential Camps

The National Writing Project in New Hampshire, a site of the National Writing Project, is dedicated to improving the teaching of writing in our nation’s schools. Since 2002, we have offered summer institutes for the best teachers of writing in the state. Each summer we also offer unique day and residential camp experiences for young writers.

Summer Day Camps for Young Writers are offered at various locations in New Hampshire for elementary age students, grades 3-8. Budding writers take part in creative activities to spark their passion and interest in the craft of writing.

We also offer two, one-week residential programs for high school students, grades 9-12, known as the Young Writers Institute. Students who attend the will experiment with genre, mode, and various creative prompts, work with professional authors and illustrators, conference with peers and teachers, and revise and publish their writing. The camps afford an opportunity to enjoy being part of a community of writers.

Summer Day Camps for Young Writers and the residential Young Writers Institute are planned and staffed by National Writing Project in New Hampshire teacher consultants.
