Marlin W. Collingwood joined Plymouth State University as Director of Marketing, Communications & Creative Services in 2017. He assumed the role of Interim Vice President of Communications, Enrollment & Student Life in April 2019.

Marlin brings over 30 years of marketing, advertising, public relations, and political expertise to his work at Plymouth State. Prior to moving to New Hampshire, he was Founder & President of The CHT Group, a full-service marketing agency headquartered in Boston. Marlin served as Managing Director of the U.S. operations for Bell Pottinger, the largest independent marketing agency in the U.K. His previous roles included Senior Vice President, Director of Public Relations at Mullen, a top U.S. advertising communications agency, and Senior Vice President at Howard Rubenstein Associates in New York City.

Alongside broad business experience, his expertise includes reputation management, strategy and implementation, public affairs, crisis management, political affairs, healthcare, travel and tourism, and large-scale events.

A former Washington, D.C. politico, he started his career on Capitol Hill on the press staff of the late U.S. Senator John Heinz (R-PA). He also worked as East Coast Collegiate Campaign Manager for Reagan/Bush ’84, after which he served on the White House press staff for the Reagan/Bush Administration.

Marlin has led teams that have worked for a variety of clients including The U.S. Postal Inspection Service, The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Tourism office, former Pennsylvania Governor Tom Ridge, Carnegie Mellon University, Washington & Jefferson College, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Leona Helmsley, Billy Joel, Saturday Night Live, the Archer-Daniels Midland Company, Whirlpool Corporation, The Heart Failure Society of America, the New York Post, and the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

Marlin graduated with a bachelor’s degree in mass communication from Anderson University in Anderson, IN.

Marlin has served on the Board of Directors for the student-run Harvard Square Homeless Shelter in Cambridge, The Gay Men’s Health Association (GMAC) in New York City, The Pittsburgh Public Theater, The Human Rights Campaign (HRC), and The NYC Pride Festival.
