Our University president, Don Birx, has made the national news recently with his cluster model. While other universities are also developing clusters, we are the only school in the country that is going completely to a cluster model as a way of organizing fields of study. In the Fall of 2017, our major will become part of the “Education, Democracy, and Social Change” cluster. While this is our home, projects in all seven of the interdisciplinary clusters will welcome students to become involved in some manner. This may be through conducting research, becoming part of an open lab, or getting involved in a University-Community partnership through a specific project. This is an exciting time for both faculty and students and we, in the Social Work Department, hope you will investigate this further as you pursue your degree at PSU.
