Bystander: A Portrait of Apathy

TIGER is very excited to offer this new middle school musical play geared to grades 6-9 across New England.

Bystander: A Portrait in Apathy, TIGER’s Middle School offering, was written by Jillian Palmieri, with new music by Tom Dowd and original lyrics by Trish Lindberg. It is a collaboration between TIGER and Bystander: A Portrait in Apathy, based in New Jersey.

Originally based on writings and thoughts from students in Jillian’s middle school language arts class, Bystander: A Portrait in Apathy seeks to do what all TIGER plays do in giving young people voice. By viewing this powerful performance, students will be empowered to stop deflecting the blame, and to take some on themselves, enabling them to make some much needed changes to both their behavior and the behavior around them. Bystander: A Portrait in Apathy will give students the opportunity to initiate change themselves, to take ownership of their school’s climate, and to eliminate the things in their social lives at school that scare them the most. TIGER is excited to premiere this new musical version of Jillian’s successful play, and to offer middle schools a program specifically created just for them.
